Peak of Season
Wed, 04/14/2010 - 21:47 — societylifeI want to thank all of our “Hungry for a Cure” partners for their generosity and support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society:
- Coal Vines Southlake
- Cowboy Chow
- LeSara Cupcake Bar
- Nelsons Restaurant
- Nothing Bundt Cakes
- Trio Cafe and Bakery
- Twisted Root Burger Co.
And thanks to everyone for braving unpredictable weather, distance, and fullness to try great food (though I’m sure the pleasure was all yours).
Some exciting things are cooking locally, and “local” is the key. I’ve just reviewed the new City Hall Restaurant in Keller, and as a brief preview, it’s worth mentioning that local, seasonal ingredients are their touchstones.
I’m glad the local-seasonal-farm-to-table movement has made its way to the suburbs. You might be surprised by our local bounty. The Keller Farmer’s Market (Saturdays in front of City Hall) is a wonderful introduction. Be on the lookout for seasonal berries, melons, peaches, nectarines, greens, and (my favorite) raw goat’s milk cheese from Keller’s own Homestead Farms.
Storm clouds may be brewing this spring, but we’ll be cooking up a storm.
